Course Types
Explore how galleries discover artists and what gallerists seek in this comprehensive 6-week critique course. In addition to being led by a professional gallerist/curator, the visiting critic program offers in-depth feedback, exposure and connections with 4 respected art world critics, well known artists, and/or influential curators.
Visiting Critic Program:
Gallery Edition
A grad-school style group critique course for artists to present, engage in critical discussion, and receive feedback on their studio work. Past sessions were led by Michael Berryhill, Loren Erdrich, and Paul Gagner among others.
Group Critique
In-person weekend workshops designed for anyone invested in making drawing a more significant part of their practice, seeking to break out of creative blocks, and looking for community in NYC! Past sessions were led by Amanda Nedham, and Sahana Ramakrishnan, among others.
Drawing Workshops
This course takes you inside New York City galleries and the larger art world with focused gallery tours, studio visits with artists, and conversations with gallerists. You will have rare access to private studios with the opportunity to to discuss process, research and studio habits. Past sessions were led by Andrew Woolbright, Alexandra Rubinstein, and Chris Bogia, among others.
Gallery Walks & Studio Talks
Technical, in-person courses designed for practicing artists who want to deepen the relationship between material process and artistic development.
Materials & Techniques
Work with highly esteemed artists Judy Glantzman, Sangram Majumdar, or Yevgeniya Baras in virtual special topics and critique-based courses that they have developed for NYC Crit Club.
